This one-hour workout session is focused on
isolating and building muscle control of the different parts of the
body, frequently used in salsa body movement. The more isolated your
muscles and the better your body control, the more fluid you can be in
your salsa body movements.
The class will begin with simple isolation exercises, focusing
initially on one group of muscles. It will eventually move on to more
advanced exercises, combining different muscle groups to produce body
movements characteristically used in afro-latin and salsa/mambo dances.
The exercises will help to build muscle control in your:
head
shoulders & upper torso
rib cage & full torso
hips & lower body
entire body
The workout will be conducted to a range of
music, from Latin jazz and mambo to rumba. No verbal explanation or
break down of the movements will be given during the workout. The
session will be conducted in the format of an exercise routine, where
students mirror the movements of the instructor.
This workshop will definitely challenge your muscle ability and
physical coordination, and help you discover muscles you never knew
existed! Be prepared to sweat!
Students who've attended this
workshop say:
I love the workout! It was something very different
yet refreshing for me because I've never tried those kinds of
"afro cuban" movements before. It was indeed very fun and
challenging."
Christina Pan
I liked the wildness
and attitude of the moves."
Shino Imai
The body isolation exercises are great! It's almost like aerobics,
except you have to concentrate so much harder to get everything
right."
