Vincent Lee Although Vincent started dancing a few months ago, only recently
has he become a regular face at salsa clubs. If
you find him familiar, it's also because Vincent, the Rolfer, was
recently featured in The Straits Times companion, "Mind Your
Body", on Jan 26, '05. Here's what Vincent has to say: |
 |
How
long ago was it since you first started salsa dancing? And where was
it?
I started salsa five months ago with another salsa school.
Unfortunately, I was also traveling overseas in between, and I’ve
forgotten some of the steps and have to start all over again. So I’m
still like a beginner. |
What made
you decide to pick up salsa?
Really interesting, I've picked up salsa as I've realised I'm too stiff
at times. Need to "loosen up" a bit. And I’ve looked at my client’s body
movement as part of my job, but to experience and practise it well is
another story. So salsa is certainly one way to bring some dance into
your life. |
How did
you hear about Two Left Feet?
I've heard about Two Left Feet from Carol, who was my classmate in the other school. She told me the instructors here are very
friendly and encouraging. And I discovered that to be the truth when I
started joining the classes. |
What do
you think is the best thing about salsa?
I think it's the body movement and the spontaneous action of dancing.
You cease to think so much and just enjoy the Latin rhythm. |
What was
the best experience youve ever had on the dance floor?
Not too much to describe at the moment. |
What was
the most embarrassing experience youve ever had on the dance floor
(please use pseudonyms)?
Whew… nothing fanciful has happened yet. Perhaps accidentally getting
into the wrong beat ( the beat of 1 and 5 ) and stepping onto the
partner’s toes. |
Describe
your perfect dance partner.
To me, It seems like every lady is a natural born dancer. You will just
have to be able to lead them well. |
How has
your life changed since you picked up salsa?
Yes, "terribly". I come to Union more often than any pubs or discos in
my entire life, and I'm enjoying it. Salsa is certainly contagious. |
What is
your salsa goal for this month?
Able to put whatever I’ve learned so far and bring it to the dance
floor, and perhaps to do Rueda in a few months' time. |
