What do you mean by "free refreshers"?

"Free refreshers" simply means that once you've registered and paid for a Salsa course, you can return for lessons of that course, as often as you like, for free, subject to space availability. Read on to understand how this works.

Please note that "free refreshers" are a privilege, not an entitlement.

Why do we offer “free refreshers”?

Because we understand that:

1. Not everyone learns at the same speed, or gets all the details the first time around.
2. Things happen. Work happens. Company travel happens. Family life happens.

Therefore, to help you progress more rapidly, we will try to accommodate as many "refreshers" as possible in every lesson.

A refresher is anyone who has previously paid for the course but is NOT a registered NEW student in the course. Please note that even if you have not attended the lesson before, you are still considered a "refresher" in classes you are not registered for.

For example:
It's now April 2010. You registered for Level One A Salsa, starting Wed 20 Jan 2010 and came for all but the 3rd lesson. You wish to attend the 3rd lesson in the Level One A Salsa course, taking place on Sat 10 Apr 2010. Although the lesson is new to you, you will still be considered a refresher. However, you will have priority over other refreshers, since you missed the lesson. But you will not have priority over the new students that are actually registered for the April Level One A Salsa course.

Why is one considered a refresher even though s/he may  not have attended the lesson before?

Please understand that once you register for a course, a space will be set aside for you. You are guaranteed a spot in that class, and we will do our best to ensure a conducive learning environment for you, by managing the number of participants in that class. Even if you do not come for class, the space has already been set aside for you, and we cannot possibly fill your spot with someone else at the last minute (especially once the class has begun). If we allow refreshers to return any time they prefer, the class may become overcrowded and become less than conducive for learning.

Therefore, to enjoy a guaranteed space, please register for classes that you will be available to attend ( to your best knowledge).

What is the criteria for participation as a refresher?

In order to be fair to all students, we can only accommodate refreshers when:

1. There’s enough space in the class
2. The presence of refreshers does not skew the gender ratio too significantly

In the event that we can fit you into the lesson, we would appreciate it if you could let the new students stand in the front during the lesson (for those who've taken the lesson before). Thank you for your understanding.

Can I come back for lessons I've already attended or can I only come back for lessons I missed?

You can come back for free for for all Salsa courses that you've paid for, regardless of whether you've attended the lesson before. For all workshops, you can come back for the lessons you missed for free. If you'd like to come back for workshops you've already attended, we offer a highly discounted fee for refreshers. Please visit the specific workshop Web page for information on fees.

Please note that students who pay per lesson are not eligible for free refreshers.

Will you be able to tell me before the class if it's able to accommodate refreshers? Would it help to contact Two Left Feet in advance?

As we are unable to predict the attendance for each lesson, we will NOT be able to inform you beforehand if you can join in the class
, even though we know how many people are registered for the class. Consider the example below.

For example:
Let's imagine that you'd like to return for the 3rd lesson of Level One A Salsa. Even if there are 10 ladies and 10 guys registered for the class (a seemingly gender-balanced class), if only 5 guys turn up for the 3rd lesson, we will be unable to entertain any lady refreshers for that lesson, as this will skew the gender ratio significantly and affect the learning experience of students in that class adversely.

At best, we can only advise you based on the number of people registered yet. If we require refreshers of a specific gender, we will send out an email announcement to those on our mailing list. However, your participation will still depend on the actual attendance. Please do not call or email us to enquire if you can participate in a specific class, as we will not be able to provide any answers.

Since there's no way to tell how much space there will be for refreshers, what are the benefits of registering online as a refresher?

The main benefit is your name will be included on the registration list and you will therefore not need to bring your receipt along. However, your name will only be included if you register at least a day BEFORE the start of class.

What happens if there are too many refreshers? How will you decide who
to admit?

For all refreshers, we appreciate your presence and your passion for the extra practise. However, please make alternative plans in the event that we cannot place you in the class due to space constraints or gender ratio imbalances.

To be fair to all, please note that priority of participation will be allocated in the following manner:

1st priority - Students who have not taken the lesson before, and are registered as new students for the CURRENT month's course.
For e.g., you are registered for the Tue class in April, but wish to attend the Thu class of the same month for the 2nd lesson.

2nd priority - Students who have not taken the lesson before, and are registered were registered as new students for PREVIOUS months' course.
For e.g., you are registered for the Tue class in Feb, but you wish to attend the classes in Apr.

3rd priority - Students who have taken the lesson before.

This criteria will be used regardless of what time refreshers arrive. But out of courtesy to the students in that class, please try to arrive at the start of class to minimize disruption.

If we unable to accommodate you due to space or gender constraints, the instructors may ask you to withhold your participation. If there’s space at the side, you’re welcome to practise there.

What is the expected conduct of refreshers?

1. Do not instruct new students, even if asked. Please always refer to the instructors to give instructions. Feel free to encourage the students, but please do not correct them, unless you have been expressly given permission by the instructors of that class.

2. Please arrive at class on time  and stay for the entire class, out of respect to your fellow classmates.

3. Please bring your receipt along so that instructors can verify your status as a refresher. The instructors have a right to refuse you entry if they cannot verify that you've paid for the course.
