The
Level Two A Salsa class picks up from where
the Level One B Salsa class ends. Besides building on what that you've
learnt in Level One A & B, you will be introduced to other aspects of salsa:
Styling
Styling has everything to do with how you look...i.e. the style you
bring to your dance. It's what gives your dance flair. In Level Two
A Salsa, you (ladies) will learn how to put "accents" into
your dance to give it more style.
Spinning
Spinning adds another level of excitement to your dance. Before introducing
you to partner spinning in Level Three Salsa, you will first be taught how
to spin on your own. Spinning can be included in partner dancing as
well as during shines to add a "WOW" factor in your dance.
For the ladies, once you can spin on your own, spinning with a partner
will be second nature to you.
Shines
Shines give you a chance to break away from your partner and shine on
your own. It's an integral part of salsa, and you'll find lots of opportunities
to shine (whether you like it or not, ladies). You will learn sets of
moves that you can piece together to create your own shine patterns.
More importantly, you'll learn to do it with style. Anyone can do shines...
but not everyone can look good doing it. We'll teach you the secret
to making your shines SHINE!
Patterns
You will be introduced to patterns based on new and more advanced
footwork and arm work. Although different from the moves in Level One
A and B, the principles of leading and following that you learned in
previous classes will still apply. Therefore, "leaders" should be
competent at leading all turns, while "followers" should be competent
at doing all turns. As always, the
emphasis will be on how to lead the move (for the guys) and how to interpret
the lead (the ladies).
