Level One C Salsa continues from where
Level One B Salsa ends. It is a patterns class, which means,
you'll learn how you can combine moves learnt in Level One A and B
Salsa to create interesting pattern combinations, which may last
anywhere between 8 to 11 bars (assuming each bar is 8-counts long).
The sequences will be 2 to 3 times longer than the patterns in Level
One B Salsa,, and will be made up of a variety of moves.
You'll also learn the different ways you can perform specific
categories of moves, e.g. enchufla, checked moves, reverse simple
turn, reverse cross-lead turn. Many of these are commonly used on the
dance floor.
And finally, what makes pattern combinations look really impressive
is the moves you choose to join together. You will learn that moves
that seem incompatible can actually be combined, with the right arm
techniques.
For the guys, after this course, you will:
1. Have an impressive template of moves you can use
2. See new possibilities in the moves that you already know.
The objective of this course is to also to share with you how moves
can be altered and combined, and hopefully will inspire you to come
up with your own pattern combinations as well.
For the ladies, many dancers have challenges with:
1. keeping to precise footwork. This means you start moving all over
the place, lose your balance, and are generally difficult to dance
with. As a result, leaders will tend to do only simple moves on you.
2. Understanding and applying correct arm tension, which means you
can't be led. Even if your footwork is good, the crux of dancing
Salsa as a lady is following the lead. If you don't have the
correct arm tension, you can't feel the lead, and thus cannot do what
the leader is signaling for.
In Level One C Salsa, the emphasis for ladies will be on:
1. correcting your footwork, and
2. honing your following techniques, especially arm tension, through
exposing you to the most common moves on the dance floor, as well as
to new and unique combinations.
This four-week class will give you the
opportunity to perfect your footwork, and leading/following
techniques before moving on to new
frontiers in Level Two Salsa.
